If you don't know what I'm talking about, you missed the major entertainment announcement of my fandom life today.  Don't click if you don't want to be completely and utterly depressed, wishing that you had your own TARDIS to change things accordingly spoiled.

*Weeps some more.*

I had no clue I promise but part of me is not surprised.... I have no idea why.

It's been a question roaming around since season 3. The problem is the fandom's going to be a) wondering who the next one is and b) betting on how long that one will stay.
The only way I will be happy is if the next Doctor decides to look like John Simm. I don't care about the logistics.

There really aren't any words. I'm so saddened by this. Someone needs to slap that boy upside the head, reminding him that this isn't the old Who. We will have difficulty with anyone else.
In fact, until he beat Tom Baker's run, I would never have been happy with him leaving. Wow, I'm so upset that I can't even use the correct verb tensing in that previous sentence.
*goes back to weeping.*

In a way, I hate that he made the announcement more than a year ahead. Because now it's like waiting for a very slow death. Every ep of the specials will be "oh no, this is his last!"

*sigh*

And I was so certain he was staying at least one more season. Drat the man, his run is far too short.

It's like how we all knew Eccleston was leaving and it had barely started. Is it possible to leave something of a surprise? You're right, it will be like watching a slow death now.

While I'm excited about the next Doctor--Speculation is a fun game--I'm sad that we're losing our manic-yet-sexy (especially spexy) Doc!

It is not blaspheming at all. If they announced that Eccleston was coming back, I'd not be sad in the least. I love Nine. I fancy 10. There's a difference.
I just have a big crush on David Tennant and want him to stay on my TV screen.
