After 2 and half weeks away, I give you the most pressing question to ponder:

Unfortunately, I found myself looking at pictures of Torchwood bears.  By now, if you're in the fandom, you know all about the bears.  They've pervaded so many aspects of the fandom, that I think we just need more picture of [livejournal.com profile] assetic 's Darcy on various Torchwood cast members' laps, to offset the bears.

So, when looking at these pictures, which are like train wrecks and one cannot look away, I found myself debating something I found rather interesting.

Why were all the Rhys bears wearing pants?

That is all.

To google the phrase "my fictional Welsh boyfriend," with, or without the quotations.

*Gloats.*
This is without any specifics, thus it remains an open post.

At least, after the events of yesterday, I could've watched seasons one and two with some nostalgia and enjoyment.

Now, after the events of tonight, I'm not sure I can do that.

Who knew that after the events of yesterday, there could be a way of offending the audience further, but somehow, RTD managed to do it.

Sure, I'm going to get the argument it was all in the name of art, but if the only emotion art evokes is that of horror and disgust, then that is the art of the deprived, and honestly, it is not anything that I can support.

Right now, I'm scheduled to be on the following panels:

Torchwood 3

The polarizing effect of Gwen Cooper-Williams

Primeval: where Spy will be asking if ITV has been taken over by suit-wearing monkeys. (My own subtitle)

I may or may not be on the following panels:

The myth of Fandom tolerance (not sure what's happening there, but I'll probably be on this one, but don't want to say for sure, until I get confirmation).

Donna Noble: Still made of awesome (I have a feeling this one may be my fault I'm not on it, if I'm not.)

Either way, whether I'm on five panels or 3, it doesn't really matter. The announcement that Torchwood should be airing the week of July 4th means that my goal of making it the BEST!ATTENDED!POLARIS!PANEL!EVER! is actually a possibility.

Top five reasons I'm looking forward to Polaris this year.

[livejournal.com profile] bubbleslayer & [info]seanchaidh. I'll even be on panels with them (and [livejournal.com profile] enkanowen )! (I am still trying to convince [info]elysium1996 & Mr. Ely to come north of the border! I'm also hoping [info]takhys might come and bring along [info]lokabrenna -- as there are art contests, [info]lokabrenna!) I am planning to drag everyone to the video room to throw popcorn, randomly at [info]nexstarman , because that would amuse me, as long as
[info]indefatigable42 was in on the plan. My BFF, [info]travellingone will also be there but she'll probably be a lot like snuffalupagus: almost impossible to find, while others insist she just went that way, talking on the headset! [info]bubbleslayer, [info]seanchaidh and myself may need to devise a plan, probably involving mojitos, to kidnap her. (If you're going to Polaris and I haven't mentioned you, remind me so that I can squee appropriately.)

The opening ceremonies: I wrote them and got at least one of my dream casting. I also got to vet the announcers and will be looking for sound. When I post a "where do I find this sound effect" post, I hope people can help!

The Primeval Panel: I expect people to bring their own trees to climb, and stay there, indefinitely. I will also have the 2 foot stuffed dino with me from the opening ceremonies (and no, you don't get to find out what that 2 foot dino is for!)

The Torchwood Panel: see my BEST!ATTENDED!POLARIS!PANEL!EVER! plan.

The Contests: After coming second in the really, really, short writing contest last year (one recipe card in size) I'm inspired to do another one.

[livejournal.com profile] seanchaidh is posting this as well, but can a clip of John Barrowman interviewing William Shatner ever be overexposed?

I wonder if she'll post this before I do.

Okay [livejournal.com profile] seanchaidh just freaked me out by implying what would happen if Captain Kirk and Captain Jack met.

Now she's going into detail.

Well, I recapped the radio play, so why not the trailer?

Yes, I am the world's biggest loser.  How did you know?

If you could title a Torchwood episode, what would you call it?

*Please note that your answers may appear in an Extra Froth post at theoriginalspy.com*
I've created a blog to continue recapping all my favourite shows, (http://theoriginalspy.blogspot.com) so come and say hi! I need a banner to go across the top encompassing elements from all the shows - Doctor Who, Torchwood, Primeval, and of  course, Numb3rs. It also needs to feature coffee at some point and I would love for it to have the words "I, Spy" in it (that's the name of the blog)

Thanks!
Since all of my shows are currently taking a break, I'm going to pimp a few of the shows recapped by Recapist that I think are worth the read.  I'm only pimping recaps I've actually read -- but Recapist has a ton of shows to offer.

Of course, I recap Doctor Who, Numb3rs, Primeval and Torchwood (including the radio play!).  If you haven't read them yet, give them a try.  (I will be recapping Dollhouse whenever that filming train wreck makes it into the station.  I hope it'll live up to the hype.) Heck, someone from a site bigger than ours thought the Torchwood recaps were worth trying to plagiarize so I must be doing something right.  Random point: I do have a thing for British Sci-Fi, don't I?  Unfortunately, the icon of awesome that is Sarah Jane Smith, intimidates me too much to take on her part of the Whoniverse.

My BFF, [livejournal.com profile] travellingone , who once covered for me with Torchwood, only to find herself enmeshed in the plagiarism issue when the same unnamed site tried to copy her recap, (and she once stole my voice another of my recaps for Doctor Who --  "Midnight") covers Life on Mars (US).  If you've not seen this little show, after a bumpy start, it's actually turning out quite nicely.  Unfortunately, there are big shoes and skinny pants for it to fill when it comes to the UK counterpart.  You can catch up on the show thus far by reading the recaps.  (Plus, she let me play in her sandbox and cover an episode while she was in Paris.)

[livejournal.com profile] anniemoon , aka Annie, my former boss at Fandom Talk and lovely all-round person who gave me my first chance at recapping, covers CSI. She's another one who is so good, people literally copy and paste her recaps elsewhere.  (They shouldn't do that, and the foot of Buzznet will come down on their heads.)  She also recaps So You Think You Can Dance, and I'm highly disappointed she didn't cover the Canadian version of it.  She would've had a blast with Nico's fauxhawk.

Ran Cansley recaps her beloved Friday Night Lights.  If you don't know about her love for that show, you haven't even heard of Ran Cansley.   She also covers Survivor and has way more patience for those who inflict themselves with starvation, looking like an idiot and flashing the continent while no one notices (initially), than I ever could.   I haven't watched the show in four years, but I love the recaps.

Gemma is our wittle baby recapper and she's totally taken over Supernatural.  She snarks way beyond her years.  She also covers The Mentalist, and I make a point to stop by her recaps every week.  She and I share a love of Patrick Jane and all his perfect hair goodness.  Gemma's also just started Leverage.  It's a new show (and set of recaps) that needs pimping.

Nova A covers Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and she shares the same frustration with the bloody ellipsis that I do.  I mean a literal bloody ellipsis.

Jane St. Clair has an unfortunate habit of recapping great shows that get cancelled.  Case in point: Pushing Daisies.  The only show not currently suffering this trend is Chuck.  My relief when she took over this show was palpable.  I love me my Chuck Bartowski and the Nerd Herd.

BTW, did you know you can become a fan of The Recapist on Facebook?  Seriously, go become a fan if you like the snark.

Here's a challenge to my F-list: link to a set of recaps on your journal you think people should go and check out.  It can be a show listed here, or something completely different.  Holidays are coming and we all need some laughs to get through the craziness.  Let your F-lists know where the funny is.

I just posted the recap for "Lost Souls" complete with stick figures and heds pastede on yay!

[livejournal.com profile] seanchaidh , you'd better go read it!

Dick Wolf just stole Freema from the Whoniverse.

Okay, maybe not Dick Wolf but since the man has an irrational hate-on for my Numb3rs, I choose to blame him for everything.

Am I a horrible person to be happy?  Yes, I liked her better during her stint in Torchwood where she wasn't constantly mooning over the Doctor, but really, once the eye roll happened in "Smith and Jones" any chance of real love for the character, like Rose or Donna, went out the window.

My icon is particularly appropriate right now.
Follow the convenient link to the link on my Famesters blog.

(There are a couple of technical issues with the site right now so be patient while it's being resolved.)
Does it still make an impact.

I love doing the Doctor Who recaps, but I get the least amount of feedback on them.  It's sort of depressing.

I'm sorry, fandom.  I tried loving Martha, but the writers kept playing silly-buggers with her character  (though more obviously done to the character of Gwen from Torchwood, Martha is still a victim of it) but it just wasn't possible.

I did though, love her on Torchwood.  Weird, isn't it?

Due to school completely pressuring me and sending me into a stressball, this week's Torchwood recap will be done by my BFF, [personal profile] travellingone.  Please, if you watch Torchwood, go over to Recapist some time after 10 tonight and leave her all sorts of wonderful comments.
Plus, if you really like it, feel free to pimp it like Heidi Fleiss.
Abaddon = Bob.  When they kept calling him "Bob" it was as funny (If not funnier) than the Transformers pajamas.

Listening to Eve Myles talking nervously over the sex scene in "Out of Time."

The long discussions about Kai Owen walking around naked.

The Captain's log.

Seriously, best DVD set ever.
The commentaries are brilliant.  Just finding out John Barrowman has Transformers pajamas was enough.  There are many other things but the image of  "The Barrowman" (as they call him on the DVD commentaries), pissed out of his mind, dressed in Transformers pajamas, made my day.
