A few years back I had something that made me exhausted all the time. As in, sleeping about 20 hours a day, and the 4 hours I was awake I kept trying to doze off.

I had fever, achiness, and a few other things that I don't remember all that well now because I was exhausted.

After about a week of this, I went to the doctor. He said my symptoms fit perfectly with this disease that was ravaging the countryside called West Nile. But, as it was new and shiny and the like, only people who were practically dying could get tested for it. I got a note excusing me form working because I was too tired to do anything especially driving, and got told to treat the symptoms as best I could and good luck.

So while I'm pretty sure I had West Nile, and I probably needed a lot more assistance than I got (I think I was off for the better part of 3 weeks in a contract position, and then I proceeded to get a massive lung infection that took me off work longer, and that was about the time I really started noticing issues with dizziness and tinnitus and stuff that probably led to the Meniere's), because they were only treating people who were pretty far gone I will never be 100% sure.

And if there are any long term complications... I will never ever be able to say "hey! I need help with this!" Which is a good chunk of why they try to not test more people than they have to, IMHO.
