Assuming it is a dream... Nobody had landed anything on Mars in 1973, let alone anything with wheels and a jaunty camera stand on top.

Are you saying there wasn't any Life on Mars in 1973? All that debate on the fate of Sam Tyler and you solve the mystery by using factual evidence?

No, not saying that... Spacecraft had flown by Mars several times by then and there had always been a suspicion of life there, and the song came out in 1971 so it's not an anachronism.
